Nathan Juarez is a multifaceted musician, percussionist, composer, and educator from Odessa, Texas. He is currently advancing his studies at the University of Oregon, pursuing a Doctorate in Percussion Performance, a Master’s in Music Theory, and is a Graduate Educator in percussion.
Nathan boasts a diverse performance portfolio, showcasing his skills in a myriad of ensembles that include orchestras, bands, choirs, brass choirs, jazz bands, and percussion ensembles. He has notably performed with the Eugene Symphony, Orchestra Next, Eugene Opera, Amarillo Symphony, and Honor Band of America, among other ensembles. He’s not only performed but also composed and arranged music for many of these groups, in addition to solo and chamber music settings.
As an educator, Nathan’s expertise has been shared with a variety of students, from early childhood to adults, providing instruction in both individual and group contexts across West Texas and Oregon. He has further extended his compositional abilities into these educational environments, creating and arranging music for many diverse learning contexts.
Nathan is an alumnus of the University of Oregon, where he completed his Master’s degree in Percussion Performance. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education and Composition from West Texas A&M University. His illustrious academic journey includes studying percussion under esteemed mentors Keiko Abe, Pius Cheung, Ian Kerr, Susan Tariq, and John Carroll; and honing his composition skills under the guidance of Dennis Llinás, David Crumb, and BJ Brooks. He is a proud member of the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers, as well as the Percussive Arts Society.
